  I am a first-generation Latina who loves sharing my story of resilience through my educational journey in STEM. I love giving back to my community and supporting the goals of other first-generation and veterinary/STEM focused students. I share a passion in veterinary medicine for preventative care, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and urgent/emergency care. I received my undergraduate degree from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science. I furthered my education at Cal Poly, Pomona with a Master’s of Science in Biological science with an emphasis in immunology and virology. My thesis was on Atopic Dermatitis (skin allergies) in dogs and am a published author. Soon after finishing my Master’s degree, I began my journey and obtained my doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Science. I am Fear Free, LLC certified and a Companion Animal Euthanasia Master Program trained. I firmly believe in a team effort between pet parent and medical team in order to provide best practice medicine. In my free time, I love spending time at my two boys’ soccer games and jiu jitsu practices, and giving back to my alma mater by mentoring. I love dancing with my husband, taking care of my two chihuahuas (Flex and Cynthia), Yorkie (Pepsi), and two black and white tuxedo kitty (Itztli and Duke), and trying new cuisines from different cultures.
